REMINDER - Consultation Phase - National and Local Requirements for 1APP
There is still time for you to become involved with Winchester City Council’s consultation of their Local List requirements. The consultation will be running on the Council website until 18 October 2007.

Following the consultation period the responses will be reviewed before formal adoption by the City Council. Should any major changes occur, when CLG publish the final version of the Best Practice Guide for Validation of Planning Applications in November, then the Council may need to reconsult. We aim to publish the results of our consultation in November.

Winchester City Council’s 1APP consultation cited as example as ‘Best Practice’ by Planning Portal
The approach to the consultation phase for the implementation of 1APP at Winchester City Council has been hailed as an example of ‘Best Practice’ by Scott Alford, National Development Manager for the Planning Portal, who is recently quoted as saying, “The work that you have undertaken is very good with the information presented in a clear, concise and comprehensive format. We would like to use this as a best practice for other LPAs.”

Winchester City Council’s approach is now to be adopted by other councils in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area. Following initial agents workshops in Winchester, on 20th June 2007, HIPOG (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Planning Officers Group) will be arranging further workshops over the next few months, with venues already agreed at Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Southampton. Further information will be forwarded as it becomes available.

Call for topics for the next Agents Forum
The next Agent’s Forum will take place on 1st November in the Walton Room, Winchester Guildhall at 2pm.
If you would like to attend, or have any suggestions for the forum to discuss, please contact Philippa Eldridge, E-Planning Development Leader (peldridge@winchester.gov.uk) no later than 12 October to allow time for the final agenda to be circulated prior to the meeting.

Planning webpages given new navigation
If you have recently used the Planning section of our website you may have noticed a few changes in their layout and navigation. Following receipt of comments from external (and internal) customers we have been working with the Corporate Communications team to try and improve how planning information and guidance is presented. The next step is to update some of the content of the pages, and we hope you will bear with us while this takes place. If you haven’t visited our pages recently, why not click here and have a look.

Please let the Corporate Communications team know you views on the changes we have already made, and any suggestions for further enhancements, by emailing the E-Communications and Marketing Officer at aainsworth@winchester.gov.uk.
