| Search continues for Hampshire's Top Village The search goes on for Hampshire’s Calor Village of the Year 2008. The Best Community competition was launched in January and entry packs have been sent to the county’s villages upon request, with the chance of sharing £900 in prizes. All parish clerks have been notified, and any village organisation can coordinate the easy entry into the competition on behalf of the residents. Hampshire County Organiser, Steven Lugg said: “This competition is not about hanging baskets, it is about villages working to improve quality of life. This year prize money has been increased overall, and there is a new prize for communities re-entering, with the aim of villages improving facilities and activities by yearly cycles of looking and improving what happens in ‘their place’, and understanding gaps in assistance for residents."
