Local Town Access Plan

Would you like to see more Park and Ride sites? Less congestion? Or would you like to see the creation of areas where pedestrians and cyclists can safely interact with traffic moving at slower speeds?

We want to hear your views on the access issues that affect you. To help us do this we are holding a public exhibition at the Saxon Suite - Winchester Guildhall where you can drop in at a time to suit you on the following dates:

  • Friday 7th March 2008 (1pm to 6pm)
  • Saturday 8th March 2008 (10am to 1pm)

Go to www.winchester.gov.uk/winchestertownaccessplan for more details.

Live for the Future

Businesses form a key element to our local communities. Our communities must be sustainable; that is, they must be great places to live, work, and do business, alongside caring for the environment and leaving a good legacy for future generations.

We want the local economy to thrive and grow, whilst maintaining the natural assets which make it a great place to do business.

Using the information you gave us during consultation earlier this year, and with data gathered through a number of research methods the City Council has prepared an ‘Issues and Options’ paper on the Local Development Framework core strategy.

This gives you a chance to choose the way forward for the district.

• What sort of premises might you need in future?
• Where will your staff live and how will they get to work?
• What changes to the local environment might affect your business?

This document will explore the overall level of development that needs to be accommodated across the district; the type of economy we wish to promote; jobs growth; commuting patterns; protection of the built and natural environment, and the role of the various towns and villages in providing services, housing, and facilities for local people. In addition there is an increasing need to address the issue of climate change.

So, if you’re interested in setting out where we want to be and how we are going to get there go to www.winchester.gov.uk/liveforthefuture where you can complete the online questionnaire before February 15.

You can also sign up for our LDF e-bulletin to keep track of progress.
